List of 100 typical scientists of Asia recently published by Asian Scientist Magazine named two scientists of Vietnam including Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem (Vinmec Genetic and Stem Cell Research Institute) and TS Nguyen Thi Hiep (International University, National University of Ho Chi Minh City) . Persons recognized on this list must have national or international awards in 2018 for important scientific research or leadership in academia and industry.

Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem was recognized with many achievements, being the first doctor of stem cell transplantation to treat cerebral palsy and autism in Vietnam; directly operated 5 conjoined twins of more difficult type than 15 years ago.
