Yesterday's storm swept across Taiwan with a maximum wind speed of about 160 km / h, causing three million households to lose power, many trees uprooted. More than 300 international and domestic flights were canceled.

Taiwan officials said the storm killed at least 6 people here. Television images show that many people are stranded on river banks and flash floods flood through mountain villages. Some areas have rainfall up to 1,000 mm in two days.

Soldiers and rescue teams and professional dogs searched the mud and garbage to start a recovery effort after the storm. Although the storm weakened before coming to the mainland, weather forecasters said it sometimes became the strongest storm of the year.
