Gordieiev shared the process of creating the square-wheeled bicycle on April 9 in a video on YouTube channel The Q, according to Design Boom. He started by creating the rim for the square wheel. Gordieiev cut the steel block into several pieces and welded them together to create the rim. Then, Gordieiev gradually attached the gears, added a chain, and cut the round tire into long strips to easily wrap around the new rim. Once he finished the square wheel, he removed the bike's original wheel and replaced it with a new one.
With this type of wheel, riding a bicycle is not as easy and smooth as with round wheels.
This type of wheel is not completely square because the gears are circular and arranged along the edges along with the 4 corners so that the rubber tire covering the outside can move. Therefore, the bike does not really roll over the square corners. With this type of wheel, the bike is not really easy and smooth to ride as with round wheels. The advantage of a square wheel bike is that the bike can stand upright without a kickstand, which is very convenient when needing to park the bike in a tight space.
The bike may look a bit bulky due to the square steel rims of the wheels, but the frame is quite light. According to Gordieev, this bike design rides normally and can turn. His creation could inspire people to think outside the box in design.
