Marsili is the name of a volcano with a height of 3,000 m and is located about 150 km southwest of Naples. It is 70 km long and 30 km wide. The crater is located only 450 meters from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
According to AP, the latest study by the Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanoes (INGV) shows that lava is accumulating with an increasing volume under the volcano, while its outer walls are very fragile. and easy to collapse.
"Marsili volcano can work tomorrow," Corriere della Sera daily quoted Enzo Boschi, INGV president, in an article published yesterday.
Boschi confirmed that Marsili volcanic activity could cause strong tsunamis on the coasts of Campania, Calabria and Sicily.
"When the outer walls of the volcano collapse, millions of meters of lava can create a powerful wave. The danger is real, but we cannot predict exactly when the volcano will erupt." , Boschi said.
