Unique turnaround waterfall in Western Australia
Located in Talbot Bay in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, Horizontal waterfall is an extremely unique wonder.
Horizontal waterfall
Although called waterfalls, Horizontal is actually formed after sea water is forced to flow through the narrow ravines of the McLarty Mountains. The McLarty series has two parallel canyons about 300 meters apart. The first canyon is 20m wide, facing the sea and the second alley is only 10m wide.
In particular, when the tidal current goes up and down, the direction of the flow of Horizontal waterfall is reversed, creating great whirlpools. This process is repeated, to the point that naturalist David Attenborough has to say that this is: "one of the greatest natural wonders of the world".
Every year, many tourists flock here to have the opportunity to see the turquoise waters flowing between the rolling red hills. Sometimes, when the water is still, you can also take a boat through two canyons to admire the landscape.
