The government of Umbria, central Italy, will use the data obtained from a waterborne robot named "Galileo" to monitor, manage and take measures to improve the environment in the lake itself. of course.
This is information released by representatives of the Umbria Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPA) on September 26th in the launch of this device at Lake Castiglione del Lago.

Most notably, "Galileo" is equipped with an underwater camera and an infrared scanner that "instantly detects illegal discharge and dispersal of waste in lakes."
Silvano Rometti, regional environmental commissioner, asserted that any form of pollution in the lakes would be detected by Galileo and that the authorities would take the necessary measures.
Not only used in natural lakes, it can also be used in artificial reservoirs to explore, regulate water levels and provide parameters for irrigation.
This decision is considered as a breakthrough in the management of natural resources and natural beauty of Umbria Region in particular, where there are many natural lakes and Italy in general. Currently, the University of Construction, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment Italy is also very interested in the use and development of "Galileo" robot .
The "Galileo" robot, commissioned by Siralab Robotics Umbria Lab in collaboration with the University of Perugia, is funded by the ARPA Region of Umbria.
