Video: The moment the dolphin crossed
Allie mother dolphin at Brookfield Zoo, Chicago (USA) successfully passed on August 2. A video recorded the painful scene of the mother dolphin while another dolphin always followed it.
Allie's dolphins have been pregnant since 12 months ago, she is carefully monitored and regularly ultrasounded to check the growth of the fetus in the abdomen. While giving birth, Allie is followed by a dolphin in the zoo.
After about 2 hours from labor, the mother dolphin gave birth to a healthy small dolphin, weighing 18kg and 0.9m long. When it was born, the baby dolphin was brought to the surface by its mother to breathe for the first time. From now on, the dolphins will raise their babies with milk for 18 months, before teaching them to learn how to hunt.
