Vietnam successfully created bulletproof vests

The Institute of Technology, General Department of Defense Industry successfully fabricated American standard bulletproof armor.

Bulletproof armor made of ultra-fine aluminum oxide (Al2O3) ceramic materials is enhanced by ZrO ₂ nano and dyneema materials, with bullet-proof ability to meet grade III + according to US NIJ0101.04 standard.

This is a product of the State-level scientific topic "Research on manufacturing bulletproof armor based on durable Al ₂ O ₃ ceramic nano-ZrO ₂ " by Dr. Ta Van Khoa, Department of Materials Department. .

The author has studied to complete the technology of manufacturing Al ₂ O ₃ ceramic materials with durable ZrO ₂ nano, with ZrO ₂ nanoparticles dispersed evenly on Al ₂ O ₃ substrate to significantly improve the properties of the material material.

From this special material, the author has successfully researched the "mosai" structural ceramic plates that meet the technical requirements of making bulletproof ceramic plates capable of withstanding multiple shots. At the same time, the thesis also identified the technology of manufacturing dyneema plates to achieve high durability, meeting the requirements of manufacturing bulletproof panels.

The project has successfully created 4 types of bulletproof armor including 2 types from Al ₂ O ₃ ceramic materials with ZrO ₂ nano-strength and dyneema composite materials to achieve level III + bulletproof level according to NIJ0101.04 of US (resist 7.62x54mm bullet); The other 2 types of bulletproof armor are made from 100% dyneema composites, can resist 7.62x39mm AK47 bullets according to US NIJ0101.04 standard at a distance of 15m.

Bulletproof armor made from 100% dyneema composite has light weight (about 3.4kg / set) so it is very suitable for equipment. The products have been tested to meet the requirements carefully, tactics set.

Bulletproof armor is a special type of equipment for security and defense purposes. Currently, bulletproof armor types, especially those made from durable aluminum oxide ceramic materials, are quite popular among military and task force countries.

Vietnam is importing a large amount of bulletproof armor of this type at a high price but the size and volume of the jacket is not really suitable for the users.

Research results of the thesis open up the ability to proactively produce technology in large quantity, good quality bulletproof armor to equip users.
