Vietnam won the Global Energy Award

With the 'Universal Energy and Clean Energy Project of the Spratly and Seamless DK Islands' , Vietnam has just won the Global Energy Award (Energy Globe Arwards) in 2012.

This is the project of exploiting and using clean energy deployed on 48 islands and staging houses of Truong Sa archipelago, Vietnam. The project has installed more than 5,700 solar panels, more than 120 fans, more than 4,000 batteries, nearly 1,000 sets of LEDs using solar energy to light the streets and walls .

The project includes 6 categories: clean energy system (installing solar panels, wind engines); power station house (battery, power transformer .); underground cable troughs; electric network; Observation headlamps system installed on staging houses, island sinks and floating islands, Led lighting system for yard and embankment walls.

It is estimated that the system has supplied nearly 5,200 kWh of energy per day (about 155,000 kWh per month) to the entire Spratly Islands. In addition, the project saves more than 620 liters of Diesel oil per day, reducing emissions by more than 6 tons of CO2 per day.

The Energy Globe Arwards was held for the first time in 1999 in Austria, founded by world-renowned environmentalist Wolfgang Neumann.

Each year more than 1,000 projects and initiatives from around the world are sent to compete for the categories Land, Fire, Water, Gas and Youth. This is the third time Vietnam has won this award.
