Vietnam's largest homemade telescope
Young people from the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club (Club) have successfully manufactured composite telescopes, mirror diameter 235mm. This is the largest homemade telescope of Vietnam amateur astronomers.
Nearly 50 young people in Ho Chi Minh City's young amateur astronomy club had an extra-curricular meeting at Gia Dinh Ho Chi Minh park on the evening of March 15. This is the club's regular event (every 3 months).

At this exchange, the youth of the club introduced a mirror diameter telescope D = 235mm which is the largest self-made telescope of Vietnam amateur astronomers today. The glass has a motor system that rotates the target through a dynamic and can observe astronomical objects via a computer screen with the club's method of capturing images through the webcam.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, team leader of Ho Chi Minh City Youth Astronomical Club said, the current telescope compared to the magnitude of the mirror, to have the same size must be over 2000 USD. But the group spent less than 1 million to build this telescope. Time spent to complete takes 8 months. In the process of making this telescope, the most difficult is the technical problem because no one has done it yet. The members of the group have to find the materials on the web and then learn to do it. Fortunately, now completed, the glass image is very good.
This is a self-made third group telescope, after the Newton 100mm F reflector glass - the first reflecting telescope made by Vietnamese amateurs and Tycho 150mm F reflective glass.
Young astronomers can practice observing with this telescope through the instructions of the club's technical team.
Also on March 15, young people 'astronomical' participated in exchanges about knowledge of physics and astronomy with Prof. Trinh Xuan Thuan, translator Pham Van Thieu, who had Many astronomical works are known in Vietnam. Universities in France and the US, the main research work today is: Understanding the formation of galaxies.
Young people ' meet ' Prof. Trinh Xuan Thuan through direct communication and voice chat via the screen. The translator Pham Van Thieu participated in direct exchanges with Vietnamese audiences at the exchange room, at the Ho Chi Minh City V-book fair, Le Van Tam park.
Author Trinh Xuan Thuan is known for his work " Light Paths ", the book was decided by the French Academy to award the grand prize of Moron 2007. The grand prize of Moron, equivalent to the American Pulitzer Prize. National book award. In addition, he also has outstanding works: Mysterious tunes - and people created the universe, Pham Van Thieu translated, Chao Chao and comedy, Pham Van Thieu and Nguyen Thanh Duong translated, The infinite in palms (From Big Bang to Giac Ngo), Pham Van Thieu - Ngo Vu translated .
Also translator Pham Van Thieu - Chief of the Vietnam Physics Association - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physics and Youth is responsible for translating the works of Professor Trinh Xuan Thuan.
