VINASAT - 1 sent a signal to the ground station

1 was launched into orbit from 5:17 '. By 5:41 am, this satellite has entered orbit 132 o East. After 20 minutes into orbit, VINASAT - 1 sent a signal to the ground station in the United States and Kourou.

5h17 'April 19, 2008, in Vietnam time, from Kourou space airport (Guyana, South America), Arian-5 boosters have been successfully launched into space, bringing the first telecommunications satellite of Vietnam VINASAT - 1. This is the historical milestone of Vietnam Telecommunications industry.

VINASAT - 1, Vietnam's first telecom satellite, is a factor affirming national sovereignty over space, contributing to improving Vietnam's image and reputation in the international arena, accelerating the integration process. and develop.

The turning point of Vietnam's telecommunications industry

As the 53rd A2100 product of Lockheed Martin, 4m high, 2600kg heavy, 20 sets of 36GHzz transponders on C and Ku bands, VINASAT - 1 will cover the entire territory and territory of Vietnam, including Truong Sa and Hoang Sa islands. In addition, the coverage of VINASAT - 1 also reaches countries in Southeast Asia, Australia, Japan and Hawaii.

In order to effectively exploit satellites right from the first years, in parallel with the construction of economic and technical solutions for the VINASAT - 1 project, VNPT has a plan to train technicians there. International level with the highest requirements, to ensure that Vietnam can exploit and trade as soon as the satellite is launched into orbit 132 o East.

VINASAT - 1 comes into operation will contribute to perfecting the national communication infrastructure, improving the competitiveness of the network and quality of Telecommunications - IT, radio and television services of Vietnam. .

With transmission capacity equivalent to 10,000 voice / Internet / data transmission channels or about 120 television channels. With the coverage of Vietnam and many other countries, VINASAT - 1 will contribute positively in completing the national communication infrastructure, meeting the needs of socio-economic development, serving security. national defense, effective support for information work, service of emergency response prevention when floods, natural disasters, .

'VINASAT - 1 satellite was launched in the direction from 5:17 to 5:41' into orbit 132o East and after 20 'into orbit, VINASAT - 1 sent signals to ground station in the United States and at Kourou. This is the first victory of the very important event of Vietnam's telecommunications industry, said Mr. Nguyen Ba Thuoc, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

Providing services from the beginning of June 2008

On January 14, 2007, VNPT started construction of ground control station in Que Duong Ha Tay at the longitude of 105.41o East and latitude 21,05o North. Redundant control station in Binh Duong was built on January 16, 2007, with a longitude of 106.73o East and a latitude of 11.05o North. This is one of the important items of the project.

In 6 months after VINASAT - 1 was put into operation, contractor Lockheed Martin will continue to support Vietnamese engineers in operating and controlling satellites. At the same time, the Satellite Signal Collection Center of Lockheed Martin will participate in the monitoring process of VINASAT - 1 satellite control.

International Telecommunication Company (VTI) is a member unit of VNPT that will manage and operate VINASAT - 1 satellite. This satellite provides Ku and C broadband services. In particular, Ku band coverage in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and part Myanmar with 12 transponders. Transmitting frequencies from 13.75 to 14.5 GHz, the frequency of reception is 10.95 to 11.7 GHz. C band expanded coverage in Southeast Asian countries. This band has 8 transponders, the transmitting frequency of 6,455 - 6,755 GHzz, the receiving frequency is 3.4 - 3.7 GHz.

After successful launch, VINASAT - 1 will be put into commercial exploitation. Accordingly, the satellite will provide satellite broadband rental services and package services. Satellite band rental service is for customers who own and operate ground stations only need to rent satellite band for transmission for business purposes or for community service. VNPT will advise and support the installation of new terminal equipment system in accordance with the coordinates and technical conditions of VINASAT - 1 satellite.

Expected, VTI will start providing services of VINASAT - 1 from June 1, 2008.

With a full-service service, VINASAT-1 provides services including space segment and ground segment, such as telephone, 2-way broadband Internet for remote areas; conference television; mobile television; trunking for mobile networks; fixed, leased line shared network and many other application services.
