The Rome-based organization said it was concerned about a new virus variant appearing in Vietnam and China that could avoid current vaccinations. This new virus is known as H5N1 - 2.3.2.1 .

According to FAO, the virus is likely to spread throughout Asia due to the spread of wild migratory birds.
FAO called for an increased ability to respond and closely monitor for a very easy outbreak of this virus, the virus has developed into a serious epidemic in 2009.
The World Health Organization of the UN said that 565 people were infected with bird flu since the first H5N1 strain appeared and 331 of them died.
The most recent death occurred in Cambodia this month, the 8th flu infection this year and all 8 died, according to FAO. In addition, the areas infected with recent bird flu include Bulgaria, Israel, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestinian Territories and Romania.
