Watch the robotic arm that controls the aircraft like a pilot

In a new invention published by the US Air Force (USAF), researchers recently completed flight tests for 'robot pilots' on Cessna aircraft models 206.

On August 9, the USAF DZYNE Technologies' Center for Aeronautics and Innovation Research ended the first two-hour flight of the Unmanned Transformation Program, called 'ROBOpilot'.

'Imagine an old plane like Cessna or Piper can be transformed into an unmanned aircraft, fly automatically without having to permanently change the structure of the aircraft' , Radio Sputnik quoted Tien as saying. Dr. Alok Das - DZYNE Technologies senior scientist - in the press release on August 15.

The operating mechanism of 'ROBOpilot' robot pilots includes receiving commands from a computer using GPS-like sensor components to 'assess situations and collect information'.

'The ROBOpilot system mounted in the cockpit is capable of handling flight control, braking, throttle control, activating switches and reading parameters on the dashboard, performing all movements like a real pilot The receptor will do, 'the team concluded.

Douglas Birkey - CEO of Mitchell Space Research Institute - said the idea of turning old airplanes into unmanned aircraft has been around for a long time.'While older aircraft may no longer be pilots' safety vehicles, this initiative is extremely useful when turned into unmanned aircraft' . The aircraft can be equipped with the expected ROBOpilot technology including the old F-16 model.
