Watching great comets shine brightly in the sky for 18 months

Hale-Bopp is one of the most watched comets in history. From the moment it was near until it was quite far away, the media kept on reporting and NASA always held conferences and observations about the comet.

Hale-Bopp comet is 1,000 times brighter than Halley's comet at the time of discovery. The pale blue tailed white tail can even be observed in urban-polluted cities like Chicago.

This comet was discovered independently by two amateur astronomers Alan Hale in New Mexico and Thomas Bopp in Arizona. According to NASA, at the time of its first discovery, Hale-Bopp was the farthest comet ever discovered by amateur astronomers.

They both directed their lenses to the globular cluster M70 near Hale-Bopp's location on July 23, 1995, and found a strange celestial body that had never appeared before.

At the same time, both sent their observations to the International Astronomical Society (IAU) and made sure it was a comet. This new comet was officially named O1 C / 1995 even though it was very far from Earth.

Comet comes closest to Earth at a distance of 193 million km (compare the correlation, the Sun is 149.6 million kilometers from Earth). Scientists are still impressed about the Hyakutake comet to Earth in 1996, although it is close but it is not really bright, and comet Hale-Bopp did not.

During the dozens of months observed from Earth, comets have attracted the attention of public opinion, media and internet communities, contributing to the development of the internet network which is still quite new.

At this time, many websites written about Hale-Bopp were opened, many people visited to find information, causing Internet congestion - something that almost never happened before. NASA's comet official site Hale-Bopp has reached more than 1.2 million hits at the time of Easter that year.

Many telescopes from the globe look up at this comet. NASA's Hubble Space Telescope also observed comets and found that it had two cores about 30 to 40 km wide, completely separate from each other.

Another surprise that scientists have witnessed from the Hale-Bopp comet, the burst in its core is 8 times stronger than the normal level that other comets have.

Comet Hale-Bopp as a brilliant fireworks display of the sky, and like fireworks, it will not appear on a regular basis. Calculating the comet's orbit, astronomers said the last time it came across Earth was 4,200 years ago, and predicted the next return to be at least 4,385 years later.

After reaching the near-Japanese point (the closest point to the Sun), it retreated from the Sun, penetrating into the outer space. In 2002, South Europe Observatory captured the comet Hale-Bopp when it was in the orbit of Saturn and Uranus, about 2 billion kilometers from Earth.

ESO said that its 50km-wide ice core continues to emit space despite reaching low temperatures, which is unusual for a regular comet.

However, despite leaving beautiful imprints in the observer's mind, this comet has officially announced that about 40 people and many more people in San Diego committed suicide, because of the belief that the end of the world will come when comets are growing approaching the globe.

Ten years after the comet Hale-Bopp sent greetings to Earth's citizens, McNaught Comet continued to enchant how many people loved the beauty of nature with their brilliant tail covering the sky. south bridge.
