With an area of ​​nearly 5000m2, recycling center directly under Unifi factory within 4 years has turned 4 billion plastic bottles into Repreve fiber.

All plastic bottles used for recycling will be sorted and cut into tiny pieces by Unifi factory. Then, roll them into small pellets, melt and car into fibers, to eventually become the material used for the garment industry.

In addition, this year there are about 400,000 students from universities such as Brown University, Michigan State, Yale College, Notre Dame and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, using Repreve yarns to produce graduation gowns. for students. It is known that each shirt needs 27 bottles to complete, while only 5 plastic bottles are enough to produce a T-shirt, and with 7 bottles you have 2 pants to wear.

Each year, Unifi's recycling center can produce 36,000 tons of Repreve yarn. However, the plant is planning to increase production to 50,000 tons next year. At the same time, Unifi also hopes to use more products such as plastic food containers or utensils for the creation of Repreve yarn in the following years.
