Wear socks to help prevent blood clots

Experts from the Cochrane Center (UK) said that wearing socks with special pressure during long-haul flights could reduce the risk of DVT by 90% (ie blood clots in the vein clog blood vessels), which can lead to death.
According to experts, the socks often hug the lower leg so the blood circulates evenly in the legs, thereby preventing blood clots. Wearing socks when flying is also helping passengers avoid the risk of leg swelling. DVT is more likely to occur when the body lacks water and is in a very humid climate. Therefore, passengers should regularly drink water, move their legs and sometimes stand up and walk in the cabin to relax.
