What is DMT? Does it really have the spiritual benefits that many people think?

Recently, the use of psychedelics to achieve some strange experiences and feelings is gradually becoming a trend among young people, especially those interested in issues such as spirituality and the supernatural.

What you need to know about DMT

So, what exactly are these "psychedelics"? And do they really bring benefits, or harm to users? Please read on to find out!

What is the origin of DMT?

To be precise, DMT (dimethyltryptamine) is just one of many other psychedelics , such as LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), PCP (phencyclidine), magic mushroom/psilocybin mushroom, cannabis.

You may not know this, but psychedelics, including DMT, have been used for thousands of years. Some sources suggest that DMT was first used around the late 8th century, as a psychoactive drug.

DMT is also commonly used by shamans and is currently listed as an illegal and hallucinogenic substance by governments. In fact, DMT is considered one of the most potent substances. Whether or not the strange experiences users experience are simply hallucinations is still a matter of debate.

DMT, because of its origin and special properties, is sometimes called the spirit molecule .

Where is DMT found?

Although not yet official, many researchers believe that DMT can be released naturally by the body during deep meditation states, lucid dreaming, and near death experiences (NDEs).

According to Dr. Rick Strassman (a DMT researcher), this psychedelic substance may be secreted by the pineal gland - located in the core of our brain, sometimes called the third eye. The secretion of DMT in the brain plays an important role: it helps us see at night (when there is little light), and also helps with balance and movement when we do not use our two physical eyes.

Many sources suggest that the pineal gland begins to develop in the fetus on the 49th day, which coincides with the 49-day mourning tradition in Buddhism.

Dr. Strassman's theory has yet to be officially accepted by the scientific community. However, in an experiment with mice, researchers discovered that their brains also secrete small amounts of DMT in certain situations. Could our human brains be similar?

In addition, DMT also exists in most living entities, especially in old, ancient trees. It is known that the DMT content accumulates proportionally to the age of the tree.

How to use DMT?

DMT can generally be used in two ways: snorted as a powder or ingested after being prepared into a liquid form (ayahuasca brew). For legal reasons, the sale of DMT can only take place on the deep web, where sensitive items can be freely traded. It is known that the price of 1 gram of DMT is around 400,000 VND, which is not cheap.

And the most interesting part: what are the effects of DMT on the body?

It is not for nothing that DMT is called the "psychedelic element" by many people. The reason is that users of this psychedelic substance, after the "drug" begins to "take effect", will be able to experience feelings that they would never have in a normal state.

These miraculous experiences may include:

  1. Color perception is amplified (in the eyes of the DMT user, surrounding colors appear more intense).
  2. The functioning of the five senses (ears, eyes, nose, mouth, arms and legs) is almost completely merged: many users report being able to smell and hear colors, and see the colors of different sounds. Their arms and legs also seem to be paralyzed while using DMT.
  3. The ability to see supernatural entities that exist in other dimensions. These entities can take many different forms: insects, lizards, elves, aliens, amorphous.

The clip above captures what a typical DMT user might experience.

  1. Feel like objects around you and your body are melting or expanding.
  2. Seeing scenes & people that lived long ago: many DMT users claim to see past lives from the time of Noah (the great flood event in the Bible) and ancient Egypt. They witness the entire history of humanity right before their eyes: wars, destruction & re-formation of humanity, over and over again.
  3. The feeling of lightness and relief as one gradually separates from the heavy body and returns to one's essence (soul). This process also often makes the DMT user's mind clearer and more alert after the "drug" wears off.

DMT Experience.

Of course, DMT use is not all pleasant and positive. Here are some of the less pleasant side effects that DMT users have experienced:

  1. Headache, dizziness.
  2. Feeling nauseous, vomiting.
  3. Increased heart rate.
  4. Increased blood pressure.
  5. In severe cases (due to overdose), users may also feel chest tightness and difficulty breathing.
  6. Feeling hyperactive.
  7. Dizziness.
  8. Arms and legs are paralyzed and difficult to move.

Here is a story from someone who used DMT, with an unpleasant experience:

"I saw all the objects in the room transformed into a 3D horror animation. Everything changed shape to an unbelievable extent. The 3 plastic bags containing miscellaneous items that I hung on the wall turned into 3 stone-carved faces, like statues of gods placed in a temple. Everything was distorted, I felt like I was lost in a mysterious land like in the movie Alice in Wonderland but even more strange. Sound began to appear, the vibration of continuous flows. It was not a song like before, it was a strong vibration of the universe. I floated among those flows, they undulated, penetrated deep inside me and controlled me. The flows appeared all over the room like codes, they had me as the intersection point, like there were many octopus tentacles wrapped around me. I could feel that strong energy. It was no longer a simple medicine. This was exactly a ritual. special. This ritual is led by ayahuasca, to another dimension. I can no longer control my limbs and body because I have become a flow. Sometimes I sit and dance, sometimes I lie down, twisting and dissolving, appearing and disappearing, merging and shrinking. I am just a stream of air as light as smoke and can become any shape. I am like a stream of water flowing through a cliff, gushing and then evaporating into the air. It is a strange dance of a ritual. The sound of the vibrations is getting thicker and thicker, my ears are ringing. The flow is getting faster and faster. I roll and twist continuously inside it. Suddenly the cold comes. Very cold. So cold that I curl up, I feel my chest is squeezed and I can't breathe. The cold penetrates every cell. I reach for the blanket but when I get it and cover it, it is pulled away. The blanket was pulled away so hard that I couldn't hold on to it. I knew this. The currents didn't want me to be warm. This ritual required being naked. I curled up, clutching my limbs because I was so cold. My heart was pounding so hard that my chest felt like it was going to burst. I knew death was coming. The currents in my head showed a billion similar faces. I knew it was death. That cold was the cold of approaching death. I stopped breathing, my throat was so tight that I couldn't scream for help. I was really scared…'

Perhaps it is not by chance that psychoactive substances such as DMT are included in the list of banned substances. However, when considering the level of toxicity, DMT in particular and psychoactive substances in general are inferior to other addictive substances such as nicotine, heroin, cocaine.

Conclusion

So, whether the spiritual element DMT can really help us on our journey to our superconsciousness is still a difficult question . At present, we can only know that, when used, DMT can help the human body experience many new and interesting sensations.

And if you're wondering why the functions of DMT seem so similar to those of the third eye, it's because they could very well have the same origin.
