Where do giraffe feathers smell bad?
Even though they're standing away from a giraffe at a distance of 250m, people still smell it The smell was quite strong and spread from it. Everyone knows that this smell is in the fur of deer, but not many people know what its effects are!
According to Humboldt University research team at Arcata (USA) led by Prof. William Wood, after analyzing the chemical composition of giraffes fur samples, it was determined that the cause of this odor was due to the export. The presence of a mixture of 11 different chemicals, including very strong antibacterial substances such as indole or 3-methylindole.
It is these chemicals (with very characteristic unpleasant odors) that help giraffes become resistant to certain types of bacteria that cause skin diseases, such as fungal skin diseases.
But now scientists still do not understand why giraffes' hairs themselves secrete such chemicals. They argue that it is possible that a chemical mixture in the form of slime under the giraffe's skin has been sucked into the glands that lead to the hair.
