Which is the quietest place on the planet?
In the process of finding the ideal location to observe the universe, scientists discovered the cold, dry and quietest place in the southernmost of the earth. That's where no one has arrived.
A team of American and Australian experts combine data from multiple satellites, terrestrial weather forecast stations, weather models to serve a study of the factors that influence observing the universe. These factors include cloud coverage, temperature, steam, wind speed, atmospheric turbulence and the brightness of the sky.

After analyzing the data, the team found that a location named Ridge A in Antarctica had many special points. Ridge A is 4,053 m above sea level and in the highlands of Antarctica. The average temperature in winter here is -70 degrees Celsius and the concentration of water vapor in the air is extremely low. The air above Ridge A is only slightly disturbed. If we look at the stars from here, they will not seem to sparkle like other places because the air is almost motionless.
' The position is so quiet that you won't feel the wind or any weather phenomenon ,' Will Saunders, a member of the group, told Livescience.
All of these conditions make Ridge A an ideal place to observe the universe.
' Astronomical photographs taken at Ridga A will be three times sharper than anywhere else on earth. Because the sky is darker and drier, a modest-sized telescope can rival the world's largest telescopes but located elsewhere. Historically, scientists think that the peaks in Hawaii (USA) and Chile are the best place to observe the sky, but those positions cannot be compared to Ridge A , 'Saunders explained.
The team claims every telescope placed in Ridge will be as powerful as the Hubble telescope (flying in space).
