Who is Oskar Schlemmer?
Oskar Schlemmer is a German painter, sculptor, designer and choreographer. He was born on September 4, 1888 in Stuttgart, Germany and died in 1943. He is known for his contributions to the Bauhaus school.
The Bauhaus was the first German art school to combine arts and crafts from 1919-1933. And not only that, the design concepts at Bauhaus school evolved into the pinnacle of Bauhaus design movement, still heavily influencing the modern design.
Today 4/9, google celebrated 130 years of Oskar Schiemmer's birth. If you've ever seen Lady Gaga's Bad Romance or New Order's True Faith - with eccentric outfits and mechanical moves - then you have a sense of intuition about the Bauhaus master's multimedia design, like as both videos - there is contemporary in Schlemmer's famous 'Triadic Ballet' .
Oskar Schlemmer.
That 'fame' is: The most famous and honorable performance was created in the most influential design school of the 20th century. And about Schlemmer and music: Yes, that's a hallmark. the original 1922 Bauhaus that you've seen in Goth Punk bands in the UK in the late 1970s.
The Bauhaus School requires flexibility from its experts. Founder Walter Gropius; architect, industrial designer, .vv László Moholy-Nagy: photographer, filmmaker, etc. Herbert Bayer: graphic design, text design, etc.
But few of them are involved in music, theater, and dance, and none of them are as profound and flexible as Oskar Schlemmer. He was a painter, sculptor, and muralist when Gropius worked with him.
When he was at Weimar Bauhaus and then at Dessau, he expanded his ability to make his media products two and three-dimensional. He studied classes in motion studies, philosophy, and drawing people. And of course people are always the center of the Bauhaus teachers.
In 1922 Schlemmer gained a global reputation with Triadisches Ballett . It is a revolution that reflects Europe's post-war anxiety with technology: more than a geometric discovery of time and space more than any traditional dance form. And he has mastered all aspects of production: costumes, stage settings, lighting, music, dance, posters .
The result is a perfect design package: a modern effort that continues to inspire theater and fashion, as well as videos and other art forms.
To remember this event, Bauhaus magazine spent all six numbers about Schlemmer. Published in Europe in 2014, and later in the US. And especially with this edition, there are many new things, essays from many different angles. It is also a visual highlight: with an impressive design, over 150 pages, along with presentations in the form of a classic grid with outstanding images and illustrations.
