Why does soccer make people happy?

Football helps people dispel feelings of loneliness, boost self-confidence and increase excitement hormones.

Sports in general and football in particular not only win, lose. Sharing with Health Line, Dr. Alan Pringle, a mental health specialist from Nottingham University (UK), said people are willing to suffer from rain, cold and other discomforts to cheer their favorite team by the that brings happiness. Here are the reasons for this phenomenon.

Promote confidence

Sometimes, we are not only happy for our own success but also for the success of others.

"The best example is when parents talk about their children's performance," said Dr. Edward R. Hirt from Indiana University's Department of Psychological and Brain Science. " We also tend to do the same for people who don't know like politicians, actors, and athletes in the countryside. This relationship helps us become better."

In football and sports, fans also associate themselves with favorite teams. The victory of the team is like the victory of the fans themselves.

Common language

The world may change but the nature of sports is still consistent."Many people told me that they and their dads watched football, so they watched, " said Dr. Pringle. Football allows generations to share together.

Besides, love for sports connects people with different socio-economic backgrounds. " A lawyer, a sanitation officer and a homeless person can sit down next to each other to enjoy football without caring about how much money they have or where they live," Dr. Pringle continued.

"Sport is an important part of many people," added Dr. Hirt. " We feel similar, close and connected with the fans and the same team as those of the same religion."

Emotional sublimation

Sports is a place for people to freely express their emotions. For example, in the stadium, men can hug each other crying or screaming to relieve inhibition. In most other situations, these actions are judged as inappropriate.

Physical changes

In addition to psychological and sports impacts, it also affects human physical.

Specifically, a 1998 study showed that the testosterone fans' testosterone levels would increase and that of the losing team fans decreased. Not only is it related to sexual needs, testosterone also maintains excitement and increases satisfaction.
