Energia Group director, Nikolay Sevastyanov, said the International Space Station (ISS) will accept a new mission. It is proposed to be used as a base for assembling combinations that will be sent to the moon.

" One of the station's landing points can take on the role of receiving autonomous vehicles carrying moon rocks. It could be the door on the side of the Zvezda or Zarya module or the traditional parking spots on those rocket propulsion module , "said the group's representative.

Transporting from the surface of the ISS to the moon may be familiar boosters like the Progress and Soyuz. First, there will be three people flying to this satellite, exploring it and returning to ISS. Then, depending on the results of the first test flight, the number of astronauts will increase, and not necessarily have to land on the moon.

Today, experts are considering the possibility of exploiting helium-3, an important mineral that can be found on the moon. The Energia rocket and cosmic corporation identified the new fuel as even more efficient than traditional minerals. A few kilograms of moon material is enough to start a fusion power plant. Therefore, extracting helium-3 from the moon will be of great benefit.

To start mining, astronauts must first build a base for miners to live and work. Experts now know exactly where there are helium-3 mines on the moon. A special machine about to be sent will conduct digging, heating the rock and then extracting helium-3.
