Scientists at the University of California (USA) explore the relationship between brain size and brain performance.

They focus on the hippocampus in the brain. This is the brain region shaped like a seahorse, which is important for memory and emotions.

Subjects of the study were 59 women and 45 men, aged 18 to 27. The research team suggested that the subjects do psychological tests to determine the brain's performance.

They found that women 's brains are 8% smaller in size than men' s brain but are more efficient.

The reason why female brains work more effectively is by using less energy and less brain cells to achieve the same or better results of the male brain activity.

The study is published in Intelligence magazine.
