Crazy Bien: Two people died, billions of dong drifted along the flood

Thunderstorms that lasted more than 6 hours in the morning of August 24 caused massive flooding in some districts of Dien Bien province, burying 2 people and swept away many properties.

Thunderstorms occur from 3 am to 9:30 am on August 24 along the northeast to southwest causing big floods on rivers and streams in many areas.

In Dien Bien and Tuan Giao districts , floods caused landslides, causing Lo Thi Xuong (43 years old, Khong To village, Muong Khong commune) and Luong Van Lam (57 years old, Na Nhan village, Na Nhan commune) to die. 3 other people were also seriously injured by hitting the rock when being hit by floods.

Property damage is estimated at VND 2.5 billion . In Tuan Giao district, temporary pontoon bridge is broken for 5-member people in Chieng Sinh commune; 3 houses were seriously flooded. Particularly, Muong Ang district has 15 ha of rice buried and damaged about 70%; 3.5 hectares of crops lose their whites; 20 m of some irrigation works were broken; 30 m of embankment to protect Ngon Cay road - Dang Tu was broken.

The local forces are helping households with dead and injured people and overcoming the consequences of floods.
