Road traffic on Highway 6, from Tuan Giao town to Tua Chua district and Muong Lay town was paralyzed from 6 am to 10 pm on July 3, due to water overflowing on the road.

Mr. Quang Van Oi (80 years old in Minh Minh village, Chieng Dong commune) said that from 1969 until now, there has just been a big flood like this year. The rain lasted from July 2, to July 3, the flood suddenly surged, flooding all the rice fields along the Nam Huong stream. Many furniture, livestock and poultry have been swept away by floodwaters.

Mr. Vu Van Duc, Vice Chairman of Tuan Giao District People's Committee said that this is the biggest flood after nearly 50 years in this locality. Due to prolonged rain with great intensity, causing two streams, Nam Hon and Nam Sac, to flow through the resonated district makes the water rise up to 2 m high.

In Tua Chua district, 115 ha of rice in Muong Bang field are damaged by 40%, traffic from district town to Muong Bang commune is congested and cannot be circulated; 1 concrete bridge in Muong Bang commune was washed away, some irrigation works were badly damaged.

In Muong Lay town, flooding has made the whole area of ​​Na Na village and 11 households in Hoc village of the commune flooded from 30-45 cm; 50 m of concreted concrete embankment collapsed, resulting in two broken electric poles. In Muong Ang district, over 52 hectares of winter rice crop are lost due to being washed away, buried; 1.4 ha of fishponds were broken and washed away.
