Vietnamese scientist was honored in Australia

Dr. Ngo Duc Tuan and his colleagues have been awarded awards for excellent scientific works supporting Australia's defense and security.

"I feel quite surprised because this is a prestigious award of the scientific community throughout Australia and the competition is very competitive , " Dr. Tuan said.

The winning project is about high-strength materials and composite structures to enhance the protection of military armored vehicles against the impact of mines and ERW on the battlefield. These new materials technologies can be applied in many other areas such as reinforcement of buildings, bridges, tunnels and airports.

"Our team has been working on this topic for almost 4 years and fortunately there are many good results, which are applied by defense companies , " the scientist said.

In addition to applications in the defense sector, composite materials and structural technologies developed by Dr. Tuan and his developing colleagues can be widely applied in the civil and industrial sectors, helping to enhance the ability to protect Natural disaster prevention and special effects such as fire and explosion.

At the awards ceremony, Dr. Alex Zelinsky, Chairman of the Australian Government's Defense Science Council, congratulated the research team and said that, thanks to this research, Australia will maintain its ability to design and produce equipment. bordering on mobile performance and high protection features.

After graduating from Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and being a lecturer of the school, Ngo Duc Tuan went to Australia to work as a doctor and stayed at work since 2000. He said that the Research Center now works quite busy because he received many research projects of Australian government and research contracts of companies.

In 2011, Dr. Tuan was awarded the Best Research Award for Security and Protection of Australia's key works by national security research organization RNSA.
