Some places in the world are so thoroughly protected that ordinary people find it hard to arrive.

Ilha da Queimada Grande, or Snake Island , is a small island of 0.45 km2 located off Brazil.This is home to more than 4,000 deadly snakes including the golden-headed cobra (Bothrops insularis), one of the world's most unique snakes, according to Mother Nature Network.Snake venom can kill people within an hour.Snake Island is so dangerous that the Brazilian navy banned everyone, except for some scientists to step on the island to study.(Photo: Flickr).

Lascaux cave in southwestern France is home to ancient artworks, dating from 17,000 years ago.The cave image depicts the huge animals that live in the Paleolithic period.Currently, Lascaux cave is only open to scientists to study, not to receive tourists because the paintings in the cave are showing signs of being damaged.(Photo: iStock).

The island of Poveglia, Italy , used to be a quarantine of European plague people in the 14th and 17th centuries. The tomb of Qin Shihuang is located north of Ly Son Mountain, in Shaanxi Province (China), 50 km east of Xi'an. The tomb area is sealed and buried beneath the vegetation layer over thousands of years. Current technology cannot handle the entire underground tomb complex, as well as preserve excavated artifacts. Therefore, it is unlikely that the tomb will be opened in the near future.
