15 photos won the 2016 Nature Photographer Award

National Geographic magazine has just released the results of the 2016 Nature Photographer of the Year award. The competition draws millions of entries from photographers around the world.

The jury is composed of senior photo editor of National Geographic Kathy Moran as well as famous photographers Joe Riis and Jim Brandenburg.

The competition consists of four categories: actions, landscapes, animal portraits and environmental issues. The highest winner will receive $ 2,500 in cash, medal and a tour worth $ 7,500.

This year, the person named the photographer Greg Lecoeur (France), with the "Sardine fleeing" taken in South Africa. Photo recorded the sight of sardines being hunted by enemies on the way of migration.

Lecoeur said he waited two weeks before taking this picture.

"During the migration process along the coast of South Africa, millions of sardines become good prey for dolphins, flagfish, seabirds, sharks, whales, penguins, and sea lions, " he explained. .

"In recent years, perhaps due to overfishing and climate change, the phenomenon of annual migratory sardines has become more and more unpredictable," he added.
