2007: VDC will triple the number of existing Mega VNN subscribers
This year, VDC has set a target to develop another 500,000 new subscribers (double the number of existing subscribers).
Mr. Bui Thien Minh - Deputy General Director of VNPT said that this year, the group will increase 1.5 million ADSL ports to develop new subscribers within 64 provinces and cities.
At this rate, according to the Deputy Minister of Post and Telematics Tran Duc Lai: " If in 2006, Vietnam was assessed as having a boom in mobile, then in 2007-2008, there will be an explosion of speed of developing broadband Internet subscribers ".
The number of Internet subscribers in 2006 increased by 2.5 times compared to the previous year, reaching a density of 17.6% of the population using the Internet. This year, this ISP will focus on new services such as online services, E-commerce services and Wifi, Wimax services .
Until now, VDC's market share of broadband services has reached 43%. This year, VDC expanded the capacity of international VNN channel, bringing the total capacity of over 10 Gbps. Recently, according to the service quality standards stipulated by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the time for providing Mega VNN services has been committed to be less than 2 working days and installation for inner cities and towns and under 5 days for villages and communes.
Currently, although the Internet market has grown dramatically, the market share of this service belongs to three service providers, VNPT - VDC, FPT and Viettel.
