2007 will be the Year of the Dolphin
The UN Environment Program (UNEP) has decided that 2007 is the Year of the Dolphin with the aim of attracting public attention to the risks that are weighing on the fate of this mammalian marine animal.
WWF, the world's wildlife conservation organization said that the agreement signed between 25 EU members on deep-sea fishing could impact the lives of dolphins when allowing fishermen to use the type. Fishing nets have been banned since 2002 in EU waters.
