250 varieties of apples grow together on a tree
A farmer in England has become famous for owning an apple tree with hundreds of different apple varieties.
With a passion for farming, Paul Barnett, from Chidham, near Chichester, West Sussex, spent 24 years growing an apple tree with 250 different species.
40-year-old Paul Barnett implanted 250 apples on the same tree. After more than 20 years of careful fertilization and transplantation, this multi-species apple tree is now about 6 meters tall with many branches and wrong branches. Apple tree is like a giant apple orchard.
Mr. Barnett revealed : 'At first I planted about 90 types of apples in rows on the ground of a kindergarten. I want to be able to grow my own apple trees but my garden does not have enough land to grow each apple tree, so I came up with the idea of "family apple tree".
'I supplement the apple variety every year by sprouting in the summer and transplanting in the winter.'
Mr. Barnett had to use many sticks to support the wrong branches.
He said he will harvest this unique crop next month when the most ripe fruit and take it to exhibitions at garden fairs.
His diverse collection includes rare varieties of apples like Withington Fillbasket that have been bred since 1883 and Eadys' Magnum since 1908.
