The earthquake center is located at the coordinates of 21,508 degrees North latitude, 102,982 degrees East East, located on the Vietnam-Laos border, the area of Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province; aftershock time lasts about 3 seconds.
In the area of Dien Bien Phu city and Muong Thanh basin, people also felt slight shaking.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Son, because the earthquake epicenter is located in the border area with mainly mountainous terrain, small intensity and time of aftershocks are not long, so it is unlikely to cause damage to people and property. .
This is the 7th earthquake that occurred from the beginning of 2017 until now, in Dien Bien province.
