4.2 Richter earthquake in Son La

On the evening of May 7, the magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred in Song Ma district (Son La), close to the Vietnam-Laos border area.

Earthquake Reporting Center and Tsunami Police (Geophysical Institute) recorded a magnitude 4.2 earthquake that occurred at 20:00 last night in the territory of Song Ma district, Son La province, close to the Vietnamese border - Laos. Disturbance depth of about 12 km.

With this intensity, the earthquake is unlikely to cause damage. However, the Institute of Geophysics continues to monitor the next developments.

Before that, at the end of April last year, Lai Chau province (located close to Son La province) happened 3 small earthquakes. No damage was recorded from these tremors.
