The Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list is published annually for the researchers who have had the greatest impact in their fields. This year, the list has 6,849 scientists from more than 1,300 institutions in 67 countries and regions. According to this list, America (2,669 people) and China (1,275 people). In Southeast Asia, Singapore (109 people), Malaysia (10) and Thailand (3).

On its website, Clarivate says that to be on the list, each researcher must be the author of articles with citation counts in the top 1% of their field, in terms of articles published in the industry. 10 years according to the Web of Science index.

The evaluation and selection process was conducted by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) internal research team at Clarivate using data and analysis by bibliometric experts and data scientists. Specifically, based on core science indicators (Essential Science Indicators - ESI), a calculation method based on analysis and selection from Web of Science data within 10 years, Clarivate Analytics will select selected the most cited researchers in 21 fields.

However, the number of citations is not the only criterion indicator. Bar Veinstein, an expert from Clarivate, said the preliminary list of scientists based on citation activity was then refined using qualitative analysis and expert review. The review team also identified "abnormalities" such as excessive self-citation and using tricks to increase the number of citations that will be removed from the list.

Since its first publication in 2002, being on the Highly Cited Researchers list shows that a scientist's works are highly appreciated for their significance and influence.
