4,000 year old tombs in Xinjiang

A new ancient burial site has been excavated in China's Xinjiang autonomous region, with more than 200 graves dating to about 4,000 years.

The location of the Wutulan cemetery is located in the Nileke area, in Xinjiang autonomous region, northwest China.In Wutulan cemetery, archaeologists discovered more than 200 tombs built about 4,000 years ago.

Excavation activities were carried out by Xinjiang's Cultural Heritage Bureau and ended on September 15.According to archaeologists, the burial rooms here were first discovered in this area.

During the study, they excavated 8 graves and found three sacrificial platforms.

The expert team discovered a different grave of large size.Inside were some stone coffins that contained children's bones, each of which was buried with a bowl.

The research team said that the findings show that the Andros Novo culture once prevailed in the Ili river valley.This river is located in northwest China.

Andro Novo culture is the common name of a group of close archeological culture of the Bronze Age, lasting from 2300-1000 BC in western Siberia, west of Central Asia and southern Ural.Its name is derived from the village of Andronovo, near the Russian city of Achinsk.In 1914, archaeologists discovered the culture for the first time.
