"The explosion sounded like it was right next to my wall and caused the window to vibrate," said an account named sebaofotograf.

"I heard a huge explosion in La Valentine, Marseille. Who has information about it?" , another person named Maxence Rose said.

Explosions rang out around 13:05, but French firefighters and police did not participate in handling any serious fires at the time. Local newspapers believe that loud bangs are likely to be a supersonic explosion emanating from a military plane flying by.

Military fighters, when flying close to the ground and achieving a speed of breaking the sound wall, can create a supersonic explosion, shockwaves from explosions can break down people's windows below.

La Provence reported that no naval aircraft operating in the area could break the sound wall, but the French Air Force fighter may have crossed the city.

"We also hear explosions, but their origins are still a mystery," an anonymous official said. City officials have not given any official confirmation of the cause of the strange explosion.
