A type of 'waking up early' is as harmful as staying up late, with the risk of sudden death

Waking up early is not always good for the body, especially when you have stayed up too late , your body has not had enough rest and is forced to be awake and start working.

To understand the harmful effects of staying up late and waking up early, Life Times (China) conducted an interview with experts Dr. Guo Xiheng (head of the Department of Respiratory and Intensive Care, Chaoyang Hospital, Beijing) and Dr. Shi Ming (head of the Department of Sleep, Shanghai TCM Archives Center).

Waking up too early after a late night is just as harmful as staying up late.

Waking up early is not always good!

Waking up early is different from the concept of "waking up too early" and not getting enough sleep. If you go to bed at 10pm and wake up quite early the next morning, it is normal. It proves that you have good quality sleep. But if you do not get enough sleep and have to wake up early, the effects are no less harmful than staying up late.

Waking up too early will cause a sudden interruption of sleep, which can cause a groggy state when waking up. Healthy sleep must first be consistent with the physiological needs of the human body.

Waking up too early after a late night can cause 3 harmful effects:

More irritable

Experts say that waking up too early can lead to increased secretion of cortisol, a hormone related to stress in the body. That is why people who wake up too early are prone to muscle pain, headaches and irritability.

Skin is clearly bad

Lack of sleep combined with not getting enough rest will cause the body to secrete more "cortisol", causing the skin to produce more oil and causing acne. Lack of sleep can also lead to faster cell aging and reduced immunity, which will speed up the aging process.

Sudden death

The saying "Staying up late is equivalent to suicide" is true, especially for those who only sleep 2-3 hours a day, the possibility of sudden death is even higher. Without adequate rest, the nerves of the brain will become very fragile, making it easy to cause sudden cardiac arrest. According to Lisa Cottrell (psychologist at Aurora Health Care): "Insufficient sleep and chronic sleep deprivation can activate the sympathetic nervous system, affecting the cardiovascular system, weakening the immune response and metabolism".

How do long-lived people usually go to sleep and wake up?

Sleep has been proven to be extremely important, as it is a part of daily life and helps the body to reboot after a tiring day. Therefore, it is no coincidence that it takes up 1/3 of each person's life.

Researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles found that even just one night of insufficient sleep can cause the body's cells to age faster . Lack of sleep not only causes premature skin aging but also increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and depression.

Therefore, a person should sleep at least 7 hours a day to keep the body healthy. The best time to go to bed is 10pm and wake up at 6am. If you go to bed after 11pm for a long time, it means that the sleep time during the day will be shortened, moreover, this is also the time when the internal organs perform the function of detoxification, staying up late means that the internal organs will not work effectively.
