Add bad news to obese people

According to research by scientists at Stony Brook University (USA), the heaviest people often suffer the most pain.

The research team analyzed data of telephone surveys in the period of 2008-2010. The surveyed people provided their height and weight to researchers to calculate body mass index (BMI), while answering questions about pain.

Based on BMI data, 38.6% of people are classified as light and moderate; 38.3% are overweight; the rest were classified into 3 obesity groups 1, 2, and 3. Compared to the mild and moderate weight groups, the overweight group had 20% more people suffering from pain, and the overweight obesity group was 68% more and degrees 2 and 3 jump up to 136% and 254%.

To find out what caused the pain, investigators asked participants if they had chronic pain. Stone for LiveScience said: 'There are many people with chronic pain who answer' yes 'when asked about the same thing as if you had no pain yesterday than those without chronic pain'.

However, this is not all the cause of the link between pain and obesity.

Researchers also statistically reported all cases of joint and muscle pain, often linked to obesity, because the joints were stretched heavily because of weight.

Another reason that is considered to be excessive obesity by obese people can produce physiological processes that lead to pain associated with pain. Or body weakness is also relevant.

Obesity, physical weakness and cases of chronic pain all affect genetics. Thus, genetics can contribute to pain.

The team also noted that for people with arthritis, the pain may interfere with their physical activity. However, when the pain increases, not exercising again causes weight gain.
