Detecting hormones helps obese people lose weight

The group of scientists led by Professor Tina Vilsboll of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) on January 11 announced that they have researched and discovered a hormone that can help obese people lose weight, reduce the amount of cholesterol in blood and treat high blood pressure.

This hormone is an amino-acid chain-1 like glucagon, abbreviated as GLP-1 , secreted by the intestine naturally when we eat food.

Recently, doctors have started using GLP-1 to treat patients with type 2 diabetes because they are able to regulate blood sugar and stimulate insulin production.

Doctors also stressed that this hormone might be a good therapy for obese people because it will make people less hungry, reduce appetite and eat more efficiently.

Reversing the medical literature, the team analyzed the results of 25 clinical trials with about 6,000 patients who were previously treated with GLP-1.

Results published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) showed that obese patients had diabetes or not, when taking a minimum amount of GLP-1 for at least 20 weeks, all showed weight loss. stronger than other control groups.

More specifically, for users of GLP-1 also showed a positive result in blood pressure, cholesterol, and glycaemic control, helping the body regulate the effects of carbohydrates on blood sugar levels.

This finding provides convincing evidence that GLP-1 has beneficial clinical effects on body weight in obese people, while also generating beneficial effects in regulating blood pressure and Cholesterol content.

Vilsboll and his colleagues claim that this hormone is a good therapy for obese people with diabetes, it is possible to apply it early to produce special treatment drugs.
