Admire the series of astronomical photos that won the 2014 award

The Royal Observatory at Greenwich (ROG), London has just announced a series of astronomical photos winning the 'Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2014' competition.

Photo 'Green aurora' appears in the sky Vatnajokull National Park, Iceland by photographer James Woodend, has defeated thousands of other excellent astronomical photos, winning the highest prize in the photo contest Dispatch 2014.

The jury of the contest shared: 'Woodend recorded the vivid, green aurora moment dancing in the night sky of Iceland, contrary to the icy beauty of Vatnajokull National Park below. It is a great combination. "

The 'Astronomy Photographer' Contest is held annually by Royal Greenwich Observatory (ROG) in partnership with BBC Night Sky magazine.

The 6th annual astronomy photo contest attracted more than 2,500 entries from amateur and professional photographers from 51 countries around the world.
