On September 24, the Wildlife At Risk said that after nearly a month of operation, Cu Chi animal rescue station received 270 animals. Including tortoises, triplets, salamanders, daisies, loris, sun bears, gibbons, pythons .
About 90% of the animals brought back to rescue originated from the FPD confiscated by illegal wildlife traders in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the remaining 10% from the owners voluntarily handed over to WAR to rescue and re-release.
Mammals are at the Station to rescue: pangolins, nymphs, otters, yellow-cheeked crested gibbons, tiger bears, python pythons, small loris and tortoises. Diseases commonly encountered by wild animals are confiscated: exhausted or injured because of poor conditions.
The remaining few may be infected with infectious diseases in nature and need to be quarantined, at least 3 months. Particularly for infected reptiles, they must be isolated for up to 6 months.
Number of animals currently being cared for and treated at the station is 130, accounting for 48%. The remainder has been relocated, transferred to long-term rescue centers or appropriate conservation areas.
