America: A farmer finds the mammoth skeleton in his yard
A farmer in Iowa (USA) found the mammoth set in his yard but hid in the living room for 2 years now.
He had a huge collection of excavated mammoth fossils in his home yard in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and he placed between benches, water tables and televisions.
Mr. John crouched down the thigh bone of a mammoth buried in his yard.
Experts say he has the entire skeleton of a 14,000-year-old mammoth in the Ice Age and this is an extremely rare finding.
However, the man only said that John was planning to keep these fossils for himself, but now they are piling up in his living room.
And here are the other bones he found.
"I was tired of moving bones from one place to another."
He said he was tired of moving these huge bones.
Can see the bones scattered in his house. Most impressive is the 5-foot thigh bone (about 1.5m equivalent).
The hairy mammoth is a relative of African elephants and is about the same size - about 13 feet tall.
Mr. John and his sons kept their findings secret for two consecutive years.
Recently when the excavation area became deeper, John invited an expert from the University of Iowa, a retired professor of vertebrate animal research, called Holmes Semken.
Homes Semken brought hard-working students to help with the digging. Before that, John only used hoes to dig. Now students use better tools like shovels and small peaches.
He recently asked a paleontologist to come
from the University of Iowa participating in the search excavation.
Professor Semken said this archaeological site reveals important clues about life in Iowa in the Ice Age.
The excavation team hopes to dig the skull of this giant creature in the next few weeks.
When he finished digging, Mr. John aspired to keep all the bones even though he did not know what he would do with the bones.
