Researchers believe that the mammoth mammoths associated with this modern elephant lived in the Serbian region tens of thousands of years ago.

Archaeological students are studying these newly found mammoth bones.

The discovery took place in the Kostolac coal mine, east of Serbia's capital Belgrade last week, and it was the first time to find mammoths of this type in the region.

Miomir Korac from the Serbian Archaeological Institute said that the discovery will give a deeper look at the people on the Balkan peninsula during the ice age.

'There are millions of pieces of mammoth bones in the world, but rarely have the opportunity to approach them to discover them. A mammoth field can provide a lot of information and give a clearer picture of life in these areas in the ice age. '

A group of archaeologists is still trying to dig up and search.

These mammoth skeletons were found during the process of digging for coal in a mine at a depth of 20 meters below the ground. Korac said this mammoth field occupies 20 acres (equivalent to 8 hectares - PV) in this sandy area.

In 2009, a mammoth skeleton was also found in this location. However, that mammoth skeleton was named Vika, 1 million years old and belonged to the hairless mammoth.

Excavation work is not simple but sometimes very dangerous.

Sanja Alaburic, a mammoth researcher from the Serbian Natural History Museum, said the bones found last month were of the hairy mammoth that disappeared about 10,000 years ago.

In addition, archaeologists also excavated graves with words
Roman times were located near the area where mammoth bones were discovered.

Alaburic said: 'This finding is very interesting because there are rarely many bones gathered in one place. It is possible that the fast flowing water has come here. '

Korac said Serbian archaeologists contacted colleagues in France and Germany to consult. Korac shared that it took at least 6 months of work to unearth all the bones.
