APEC 2006: Vietnam held a meeting of Minister of Information and Information Technology

As the host country for all APEC 2006 events, Vietnam also participated in the Telecommunications and Information Technology cooperation conference for ministers.

Held in Hanoi from November 12-19, the 14th APEC Summit also includes important contents in the cooperation of Telecommunications and Information Technology.

Began implementation in 1990 under the initiative of Singapore at the 2nd APEC Senior Officials Meeting, this cooperation was carried out through the process of Ministerial Conference on Telecommunications and Information Technology (APEC TELMIN), Conference Senior Official (APEC TELSOM), and Working Group meeting (APEC TELWG).

In the framework of APEC, the Conference of Ministers of Telecommunications and Information Technology was also organized every two years to discuss and approve APEC's Telecommunications and IT cooperation guidelines; expressed through the General Declaration at each conference. These cooperation guidelines will be concretized and implemented at the meetings of 4 sub-working groups: Trade facilitation; Development cooperation; Liberalization; and Human resource development.

APEC is an economic cooperation forum bringing together the world's strongest economies in Information Technology and Telecommunications such as the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea. Prior experience in technology, market opening, state management of these economies will facilitate learning for developing economies like Vietnam.

At the same time, in APEC, Ministry of Post and Telematics also instructed Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group VNPT to take the initiative in investing and deploying the infrastructure of post and telecommunications networks and services to meet the demands of direct broadcast of domestic and foreign news agencies; meet the demand for telephone, fax, postal and Internet services . at the Press Center.
