Application of space technology in disaster prevention

On December 3 in Hanoi, the 20th Asia-Pacific space agency forum (APRSAF-20 Forum) has officially begun.

APRSAF-20 forum by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; The Japan Aerospace Agency and Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology co-sponsored and organized.

With the theme: 'Value from space: 20 years of operation of the Asia-Pacific Regional Forum ' , APRSAF-20 Forum will focus on discussing the application of space technology in disaster prevention , environmental protection, satellite information and education to raise awareness about space science and technology.

Attending the Forum were more than 400 delegates from Asia-Pacific countries and international organizations and nearly 100 delegates of Vietnam.

According to the Institute of Space Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the APRSAF-20 Forum was established in 1993 and is held annually to enhance regional cooperation in space. Asia-Pacific region, while contributing to the development of each country's space program.

Vietnam has been participating in the APRSAF Forum for many years. In particular, in recent years, following the orientation of the "Research and Application of Space Technology to 2020" , the Ministry of Science and Technology and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology have had many activities. aiming to expand international cooperation and regional cooperation in space technology such as participating in the APRSAF sessions, UNESCAP inter-government advisory committee on UNESCAP and the United Nations Organization on the use of space aerospace, signing and implementing cooperation with a number of aerospace agencies of countries such as Japan and Korea, organizing many international conferences on the application of space technology for sustainable development. socio-economic, especially in preventing natural disasters, managing environment and resources .

For four days (December 3-6), the APRSAF Forum - 20 has sessions of 4 specialized sub-committees with discussion contents including Earth observation: Application of space technology in remote sensing and research. rescuing issues of image collection and processing of satellite images in service of natural resources and environment management, climate change-related issues; Application of telecommunications satellites: Using aerospace to improve living standards, application of telecommunications satellites for distance training, meeting the needs of communication and culture for remote areas , island region; Education and dissemination of cosmic knowledge: Solutions for education to raise social awareness about space science and technology, especially for the younger generation; Aerospace application in environmental research: Scientific studies in space, especially conducting scientific experiments on the International Space Station ISS.

At the plenary session, representatives of the space agencies of the countries in the region will present an overview report on the results and direction of the application of space technology in each country; reports of four specialized sub-committees; discuss measures to enhance regional cooperation.

The APRSAF-20 forum is a favorable opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen and expand cooperation on space technology research and application with other countries and international organizations, raising its position in the field of dance technology.
