Applying technology in Mercedes cars, people have created the best coffee filter in the world

Phin coffee design has not changed much since it was invented in 1929, but, coffee lovers still believe that it is the best tool to get consistent coffee cup of quality.

There is only one problem: It usually leaves a residue on the bottom of the cup .

A company in Vancouver, Canada wants to upgrade the cafe with a design inspired by fuel cell vehicles from Mercedes . ESPRO says its products can keep coffee hot longer and have no residue, thanks to innovation derived from this car.

Normally, the filter has a flat filter plate on top of the ground coffee and presses down. The manufacturer must keep the holes in the large filter so that it does not clog, and allow a large amount of puree to pass through. One of the ESPRO founders, who was involved in Mercedes battery-powered design, thinks there's a better way to do it.

Products cost between 27 and 139 USD, instead of using a single round filter, use two baskets 9 - 12 times better than traditional filter. Their shape eliminates the foaming coffee above and has a large contact area, filtering fine particles and giving you an indifferent coffee.

" We have been working in filtering for a long time ," said Chris R. McLean, vice president of development at ESPRO, answering Tech Insider. Surprisingly, his experience has nothing to do with coffee.

McLean met co-founder Bruce Constantine while working at QuestAir Technology, a company that produces air separation and filtration systems for companies in the field of biogas and hydrogen industrial biofuels. The couple combined in a project to filter oxygen from the air to help improve energy-efficient cars, including Mercedes Bez's cars, for better performance.

The details in the design inspired them to upgrade the coffee maker . The filter basket fits neatly in the filter with a silicon ring around the edge. This design is similar to that of a battery-powered car, which keeps the coffee hot for up to 3 hours. Stainless steel casing also contributes to heat retention.

Even though the filter needs maintenance, it involves disassembling the parts. However, it is worth it to get a strong coffee cup. Besides, ESPRO does not target " instant " coffee customers. " We aim for people who for them coffee is a passion," McLean said.
