Awarded 3 Youth Science and Technology awards

Three projects were awarded the 2005 Youth Science and Technology Award on January 15 morning. The award is co-organized by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

The author of the works was awarded at the 2005 Youth Science and Technology Awards.

With the project "Research and manufacture of two PLC automatic control devices for straight and circular welding for motor exhaust pipes" , from 2004 up to now, the author group of Thang Long Metal Company has reported save the company 500-600 million dong / year.

The above two devices are TIG and MAG welding machines. Thanks to the PLC controller, they operate almost as an automatic welding robot, helping to improve labor productivity and product quality.

These welding machines only need about 2 minutes to finish welding an exhaust pipe body, compared to the previous 3-5 minutes of manual welding.

In addition, due to automatic welding, weld quality is even, smooth and better. Weak welding rate decreased to less than 1%. Meanwhile, the rate of welding failure when manual welding is about 10%. It is known that the above equipment is being used to weld exhaust pipes provided to Honda Vietnam and other motor assembly companies.

The second project awarded the prize is "Research, manufacture sensor for measuring the three-dimensional shear force when machining".

According to KS Dao Viet Dung, one of the three authors of the Dynamic-Dynamics Laboratory, the Institute of Missile, the successful fabrication of sensors helps a lot for research and kinetic survey of machine tools. Large capacity, thereby finding improvement measures, improving labor productivity.

The Youth Science and Technology Award was awarded for the first time in 1991. Up to now, there have been 664 scientific research and technical solutions of youth from all parts of the country participating in the Award.

The award is given to authors who are not more than 40 years old, to encourage youth throughout the country to eagerly learn to create, successfully implement the cause of national modernization and industrialization.

The sensor is installed directly on a large-capacity lathe, easy to operate and does not affect the operation of the machine. It measures the forces acting on the tool during turning, including axial force, normal force and tangential force, with error less than 1.5%.

It is known that the cost of manufacturing this type of sensor is only 1/10 of the purchase price of foreign firms due to not being mass-produced.

Moreover, this success is also a premise for the team to continue to study the development of sensors that measure the right and eccentric forces of rocket engines, as well as the more intelligent sensors for machine tool control. .

The third project was awarded the Award of "Research, manufacture and production of the total system of automatic fire gun assembly".

With this project, the author group at Z21 Chemical Company, General Department of Defense Industry, helped the company save VND 300 million due to not having to import equipment of the same type.

The advantage of the project is to ensure safety for fire and explosion prevention for people and equipment, increase labor productivity 50-60 times, the rate of defective products is reduced 5 times compared to the regulations.

The Scientific - Technical Youth Award is awarded for outstanding projects in science or engineering.

All three prizes are technical awards.Each prize is worth 7 million VND.

This year, the Organizing Committee did not choose a worthy project to award outstanding prizes for science.
