Blind people can see in 10 years

Blind people can see light as normal people by artificial eyes in the near future, according to research by scientists at Cornell University (USA).

The team at Cornell University's Weill School of Medicine has discovered an artificial eye device that can collect information from the outside world and decode them into a series of electrical activities that the brain can read. like an image in the retina of the eye.

New research may be the hope of the visually impaired.

Neurologist Sheila Nirenberg, who led the study, said at a recent TEDMED conference in San Diego (US): 'We have studied how the brain uses electric activity sequences to look and see. listen to an object. Since then, we have applied this to develop artificial eyes'.

If a person with a retinal injury cannot see the light, the chances of successful treatment for these patients are very low or the person may be permanently blind. However, with new artificial eye equipment, the brains of blind people can perceive the external image as through a pair of normal eyes.

Currently, artificial eye devices are being tested on mice. Scientists hope that their research will be able to be used to help blind people see the world around them as normal people within the next decade.

'So far, our artificial eye devices have only been tested on mice, but we hope this method will be applied in humans in less than 10 years,' said Dr. Sheila Nirenberg. on the Daily Mail.

Previously, some artificial eye devices have been developed and tested, but these devices only allow blind people to see very blurry images.
