Breeding Platensis algae in Binh Thuan
Binh Thuan is one of the localities with the highest number of sunny days in the country. In addition to the negative impacts caused by the heat, this weather factor is a condition for the successful production of some high-value algae that other localities cannot.
Platensis algae production process originated from France, imported by Vietnam Science and Technology Institute. This production process is quite simple by the method of continuous farming by open system, once a month harvested. However, this type of algae is not everywhere, in Binh Thuan province, there is only Tuy Phong area, because it is a locality with a relatively high number of sunny days in the year and a suitable groundwater source.
Platensis platensis has a protein content of more than 65%, low lipid content and high beta-carotene content and the precursors A, D, and B12 are the basic ingredients for nutritional and medicinal preparations. Currently, the price of algae powder is from 250 to 300 thousand VND / kg, but not enough to supply the market, because both southern provinces have only two production facilities.
According to Engineer Duong Van Sau, Deputy General Director of Vinh Hao Mineral Water Joint Stock Company, at present, this factory is cultivating algae on an area of 2,000 m2 with a capacity of supplying about 6 tons of dried algae per year. The unit is expanding the production area to 7,000 m2 to reach a capacity of 15 tons / year to meet domestic and export demands, and invest in technology to process raw algae into nutritional preparations to enhance The effectiveness of this new crop on dry land.
