Discovered two ancient walls in the underground in Binh Thuan

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ly - Director of Binh Thuan Museum said: In recent times, Binh Thuan province has discovered many ancient relics and valuable antiques. These are new discoveries with archaeological values, further clarifying the characteristics of ancient cultures that exist in the area.

According to Nguyen Xuan Ly, most recently in late October 2012, while constructing the Po Tam tower protection project of Cham people in Phu Lac commune (Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province), two walls were discovered. neck buried deep underground. Each wall is 190cm tall, 65cm thick, the distance between the walls is 246cm, and there are many layers of bricks placed flat. According to the initial judgment, this is probably the two walls of the Cham people built at the same time as Po Tam Tower around the 8th century.

Binh Thuan Provincial Museum is surveying and will conduct excavations to study this area.

Binh Thuan Museum has also received 299 antiques such as pots, plates, cups, warm earthenware, green glazed pots . These are the number of artifacts exploited by fishermen in the waters of Binh Thuan in October 2012. .

These artifacts were brought to Binh Thuan Museum to conduct assessment and service of research and archeology. According to experts, this is an antique of XV century .

In the adjacent area between the two districts of Ham Thuan Bac and Bac Binh, a relic of ancient Cham people has been discovered with architectures such as tower base, tower wall, head of Shiva statue . Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ly said : These are very important, valuable archaeological findings, contributing to clarifying the long-standing culture in Binh Thuan province.

Regarding Phu Truong relic (Phu Long town, Ham Thuan Bac district), after excavation, archaeologists affirmed that Phu Truong is a relic of Sa Huynh culture.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong - Director of Vietnam History Museum said: Currently Binh Thuan has many Sa Huynh relics. Almost on the coastal sand dunes along Ham Thuan Nam and Ham Thuan Bac districts, there are relics of this type. However, these relics are in danger of being wiped out by the illegal detection of antiques; activities of sand mining and other people's activities . Therefore, it is necessary to quickly zone for protection of relics.
